Who We Are

We are the communications & digital nerve center for the progressive movement. Our state hubs deliver electoral & policy victories. As core infrastructure, we move millions of voters across our state network through data-driven best practices, organic & paid digital content, and decades of expertise. Our 26 affiliates serve as a marketing shop for the progressive community. Behind the scenes, we facilitate communications and digital tables that align and coordinate the community behind a shared message and strategy. From staffing issue coalitions, developing message and communications calendars, and training and pitching spokespeople to developing digital content for partners and coordinating digital ad buys to maximize impact, we organize the progressive community’s communications for maximum impact.

What You’ll Do

Data collection and analytics (60%)

  • Oversee the use of a proprietary tool for state staff and allies. This includes ensuring that the right data is being collected and that the tool is effectively reporting that data in ways that help our partners make better decisions on both content dissemination as well as volunteer recruitment
  • Identify outside data sources to supplement the data collected within the tool, such as social media account assessment scores
  • Handle special data requests from states around social media content effectiveness
  • Help build and maintain the proprietary tool, ensuring it is able to grow and evolve as the project grows and evolves
  • Assess past testing and work with the overall team to develop tests and experiments done internally or with partners across the country on social media content creation, engagement or volunteer recruitment


Reporting and informing team members around metrics (40%)

  • Develop quality control process for data collected
  • Create regular reports for senior team and stakeholders around the overall effectiveness of the program at the national and state level as well as by platform and content
  • Creation of regular reports for state teams around their discrete performance
  • Participate in content meetings to bring a data-,testing-, and metrics-focused lenses to content development
  • Develop a rapid response reporting mechanism that allows states and national staff to assess the impact of deployed social in response to misinformation or disinformation
  • Work with in-state staff to identify and consider national trends and how to apply them to their state
  • Develop methods or tools for in-state organizers to assess and prioritize communications volunteer targets

Who You Are & Keys to Success (the must-haves)

To be successful in this job, you will excel in these areas:

  • 2-5 years of analytic experience, preferably in the political space
  • Broad understanding of social media platforms and how content needs differ accordingly
  • Demonstrated success in helping to deploy data-informed strategies, including one year or more of experience using VAN or other tools used to manage relationships and analyze large amounts of data
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Excel.
  • Experience with reporting or data management software similar to Periscope, Airtable, Tableau, Access, SQL, etc.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience working and thriving in this type of role in a remote environment

The position is full-time and fully remote. The role requires 15% travel. Expected travel includes one annual staff retreat and two ProgressNow conferences.

Compensation

Because negotiating is inherently inequitable, we want to be transparent about what benefits we can offer up front and avoid negotiation. The starting salary for this position is $75,000.
